RYLA 2011-2012: Organzing Committee Recruitment

Dear RYLArians,

YOU are invited to becoming one of our RYLA 2011-2012 Organzing Committee (OC) Team Members!

With the introduction of a new Rotary year, I write to inform you that RYLA 2011-2012 is ON FIRE. This year, we are happy to announce, on behalf of District RYLA Chair PP Alex LEUNG and RYLA Organizing Committee Chair Jovex CHAN, that we are now recruiting past RYLArians to contribute to RYLA 2011-2012 and become a member of our DREAM TEAM. Being part of us is not just giving you a chance to serve fellow RYLArians, but also creating an opportunity for you to enjoy fellowship, to learn through teamwork, and to achieve Rotary's motto - "Service Above Self".

Being one of us is something BIG as it is not about nodding your head or simply reply with a YES. It is about commitment, responsibility and time management. In order to let you know more about the REAL work of being a part of us, I take this opportunity to introduce you the team's responsibility and requirements for your consideration before joining. The details of the responsibilities of each team are attached in the attached document for your reference and information.

RYLA 2011-2012 OC Team Brief Description

Team A: Human Resources Team


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all recruitment exercises including OC members, facilitators, participants and helpers;
  • Handle personnel matters including allocation of teams, insurance, enquiries of the programme, etc;
  • Coordinate and communicate with Rotarians, RYLA alumni and any RYLArians from other Rotary District; and
  • Any other in-camp duties which may facilitate the smooth running of RYLA.

Special Requirement:

  • Nil

Team Head:

  • Nettie NG RYLArian 2007

Target No. of Helpers: 4


Team B: Public Relations Team


Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce brochures / leaflets, posters, and graphics for website;
  • Design and produce optional items such as backdrops, banners, and souvenirs;
  • Use medias such as facebook, twitter, blogs, and any other equivalent methods to promote RYLA 2011-2012; and
  • Prepare and proofread newsletters and circulations.

Special Requirement:

  • Be able to write well in English and Chinese, preferably know basic graphic skills, such as photoshop, free hand sketches, etc.

Team Head:

  • Rtn. Platteen Tsang RC Happy Valley

Target No. of Helpers: 6


Team C: Programme Team


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the experiential programs design and run smoothly; and
  • Create appropriate environments so that the experiential learning process for participants takes place effectively.

Special Requirement:

  • Attend meetings, pre and post-training workshops, review and evaluation sessions;
  • Able to help out at least 1 full day (i.e. 09:00-22:00) during the RYLA camp (more is preferred);
  • Have experience in youth training or professional development areas will be an advantage, but not a must; and
  • Possess good command of English and Cantonese.

Team Head:

  • Ming WONG RYLArian 2007

Target No. of Helpers: 10


Team D: Logistics Team


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all logistic related issues, including -
    • Pre-camp:
      Preparing, booking, researching of proper campsite to facilitate smooth RYLA program flow; allocating all material resources according to the Teams' need; acting as a centralized resource base.
    • In-camp / Post-camp:
      The above responsibilities remain; close and efficient communication with all Teams for individual Team's resources management; post-camp resources decommission.
